[14:22:26] so um, I don't know why this happened, I only send a few emails a year really I just get thousands.... anyway, I was composing an email (and it's a gmail account on IMAP) and later I found out it had sent ~30 half finished emails. Why's that happen and how do I keep that from never happening again :| [14:23:17] is that google's way of telling me to use their website [14:24:30] (joke's on them i don't need it) [14:25:39] that's because you have the auto-save to drafts option set, but gmail doesn't support that (unlike just about every other imap server) [14:26:55] see /Configuration/Preferences/Compose/Writing [14:29:15] haha every 50 characters :D [14:29:55] that poor tech support lady :( [14:33:08] did you tell you that gmail's imap is a non-standard imap server? [14:33:17] s/did you/did she/ [14:35:00] no [14:36:27] I think they just very much want to replace this raspberry pi case so I'll stop emailing them gibberish [14:37:51] are there any other gotchas I should know about eh tho I have more reason to setup an email server now...I know how to I just don't like to >.> [14:37:55] those emails weren't actually sent, I think - google just saves the drafts like that [14:38:28] unless gmail sending works by the server grabbing whatever is in drafts folder and sending it (which I doubt) [14:39:24] there are plenty of alternatives between using gmail and histing your own email server [14:39:33] s/i/o/ [14:40:07] i'm open to suggestions [14:40:23] fastmail and protonmail seem to be popular [14:40:36] but really, there are dozens, if not hundreds [14:40:53] is gmx still a thing I used to like them [14:41:10] yes, it is [14:41:13] we have some mailing list subscribers posting from that domain, so probably yes [14:45:21] oh, and i tested it before I mentioned it, because at first I wasn't sure if it had actually sent or if it was like you said drafts...so far I've sent myself 3 emails :P [14:47:14] oops, bad google!
